Get ready for a refresh in your child’s textbooks! The Ministry of Education (MoE) has reportedly mandated yearly reviews and updates for NCERT textbooks. This move aims to ensure students have access to the most up-to-date information in a world experiencing constant change.
Currently, there’s no set schedule for updating NCERT textbooks. While revisions have happened occasionally, this marks the first time a yearly review process has been implemented. The goal is to have the updated books ready for students before the new academic year begins.
This decision reflects the growing importance of keeping educational content relevant. Subjects like science and technology are constantly evolving, and textbooks need to reflect these advancements. Additionally, social studies and current event topics can benefit from regular updates to ensure students have access to accurate and recent information.
The NCERT is currently developing a new set of textbooks based on the New Curriculum Framework (NCF) launched in 2023. With the addition of yearly reviews, students can expect a more dynamic and contemporary learning experience in the coming years. New textbooks aligned with the NCF are expected to be available for all classes by 2026. This year, however, NCERT has already introduced new textbooks for grades 3 and 6.
