According to Pradhan, pupils will get an opportunity to appear twice in the board exams for classes 10 and 12 starting in the 2025–2026 academic year.
On Monday, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced that beginning with the 2025–2026 school year, students will have the choice of taking the board examinations for grades 10 and 12 twice a year. According to Pradhan, the strategy is in keeping with the goals stated in the 2020 National Education Policy (NEP) and attempts to lessen academic stress.
He emphasized that biannual board exams are part of the NEP 2020, which will give kids lots of chances to do well in school. In August of last year, the Ministry of Education released the New Curriculum Framework (NCF), which states that board examinations will take place at least twice a year to give students ample time and chance to do well. Additionally, they will have the choice to keep their top score.
Pradhan engaged with students during the event at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay auditorium in Raipur, assessing their reaction to the new exam format and encouraging them to strive for their best performance during both exam sittings.
“The goal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s NEP is to keep kids stress-free, provide them with a high-quality education, connect them to culture, and help them get ready for the future. This is the plan to turn India into a developed nation by 2047,” he declared.
Speaking at the Prime Minister Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme’s introduction in Chhattisgarh was Pradhan. As to his statement, the initial phase of the program will involve upgrading 211 schools in the state using a ‘hub and spoke’ concept, with each school receiving ₹2 crore.
The National Education Policy 2020 places a strong emphasis on teaching students in Indian languages. In a post on X, the minister stated, “I anticipate the Government of Chhattisgarh to implement all the elements of #NEP2020, including Kindergarten, in letter and spirit, starting with the next academic session.
