Police reports state that a man is accused of defrauding an educational institution in the Thane region of Maharashtra and taking more than Rs 10 lakh under false pretenses. The Dombivli-based university sought permission from the government to open junior colleges on its current campus.
The organization runs two schools, one in Sagaon and the other in Diva, offering instruction up to Class 10 according to a Manpada police station official. The school applied to the state education department, stating that it would like to broaden its curriculum to include Classes 11 and 12.
They hired Dhanaji Janrao to help them through the bureaucratic process, but he charged Rs 16 lakh to obtain the required approvals. Janrao received Rs 10.62 lakh from the university between March 2021 and June 2022.
But in spite of their financial commitment, Janrao did not live up to expectations; instead, he provided evasive answers and blamed the government change for any delays. One of the institution’s trustees, dissatisfied with the lack of advancement, formally complained against Janrao, leading to the filing of a FIR at the Manpada police station.
Authorities are carefully looking into the situation as the inquiry progresses in order to protect the institution’s interests and bring the offender to justice.
