The Rajasthan Education Department has taken a significant step to support the mental health of students in government schools, following concerns over increasing stress and anxiety, particularly during examination periods. Officials emphasized that the initiative is designed to create a nurturing, safe, and positive environment where students can grow not only in academic abilities but also in emotional stability, confidence, and overall well-being.
School Education Secretary Krishna Kunal highlighted that the department is introducing a range of programs and activities aimed at promoting mental and emotional health among students. These include regular yoga sessions, activities focused on expressing gratitude, and a specially designed play-based learning kit called “Jaadui Pitara”. This innovative kit encourages students to develop their cognitive, linguistic, and social skills through interactive and engaging activities, fostering critical thinking, communication, and collaborative interaction in a fun and stimulating way.
He added, “For us, examinations are an important part of learning, but they are not the ultimate measure of success. These mental health initiatives represent a sensitive and meaningful approach toward ensuring the holistic development of our students.”
The department has structured activities to suit different age groups. Primary-level students are engaged through storytelling, games, and creative exercises that nurture imagination and emotional expression. Older students, meanwhile, are provided opportunities to express their feelings through motivational programs, sports, and specialized camps designed to build resilience and self-confidence.
To further enhance the reach and impact of these initiatives, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) labs and smart TVs are being used to screen content related to mental well-being, ensuring that students have continuous access to guidance and resources that support their emotional health.
Early feedback from schools indicates that these measures are having a positive effect. Students are reportedly showing higher levels of confidence, improved emotional balance, and a healthier attitude toward examinations. The department hopes that such initiatives will not only help students cope with academic pressures but also equip them with lifelong skills for emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and balanced personal growth.
