Class 9 student in Gwalior attempts suicide apparently over alleged harassment by two teachers; case registered

According to the Additional Superintendent of Police Krishna Lalchandani, a 14-year-old Class 9 student of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 in the Maharajpura area in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh allegedly attempted to end his life with phenyl on November 8 due to alleged harassment by two teachers.

Police officials said that a purported suicide note was recovered in which the boy blamed two teachers as responsible for harassment. After being recovered, the boy again recorded his statement where he alleged the same teachers.

A case has been registered under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, a police official confirmed and said legal action is on.

It has brought into focus the grave issue of harassment in schools and the psychological issues the children are going through. The case will be updated as and when it develops.
