The Golden Heart Initiative gave fifty children from all over the world free life-saving heart surgery in celebration of Indian billionaire MA Yusuffali’s 50 years of philanthropy. Yusuffali is situated in the Middle East. According to the organizers, the procedures, which began on January 1, 2024, were carried out at public and private facilities in Tunisia, Egypt, and India.
The initiative, which ended in three months, benefited children from crisis zones in Senegal, Libya, and Tunisia, as well as impoverished families from Egypt and India. The expedition was led by Burjeel Holdings Chairman and Founder Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil as a tribute to Yusuffali’s five decades of philanthropy.
The organizers managed to secure special approvals to transport children from combat zones to hospitals for critical surgery, despite the obstacles presented by rigorous travel restrictions. In Kerala, hospitals located in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi provided critical medical care to qualifying children.
Additionally, the group worked with the Kerala Health Department to provide expensive procedures for kids with life-threatening illnesses. These procedures took place in facilities that were part of the state government’s “Hridyam” initiative, which aims to give underprivileged kids access to basic healthcare.
