Teacher's Pride

Teachers should shift their focus from active to interactive learning.

Aditi Saini

The role of teachers in the educational   process   has been essential for centuries.

With the rapid development of technology and changing learning styles, the way teachers approach the teaching process is also evolving. The traditional method of teaching, where the teacher lectures and students passively listen, is no longer effective in today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world. In order to keep up with the changing times, teachers must shift their focus from active to interactive learning.

Active learning refers to the traditional method where students passively listen to lectures, take notes, and complete assignments. This method has been used for centuries and is still widely practiced in schools today. While it has its benefits, such as providing students with a structured learning environment, it does not provide opportunities for students to actively engage with the material.

Interactive learning, on the other hand, is a teaching method that focuses on engaging students in the learning process. This approach emphasizes student participation,

collaboration, and hands-on activities. Interactive learning allows students to connect   with the material and retain information better, as they are actively involved in the learning process. This type of learning encourages students to think critically, problem-solve, and apply the material in real-life situations.

Examples of Interactive Learning Techniques

  1. Project-Based Learning
  2. Role-Playing and Simulation
  3. Group Discussions and Debates
  4. Project-Based Learning

Project-based learning is a teaching method that focuses on hands-on, real-world projects and problems. In project-based learning, students work in teams to research, design, and create a solution to a real-world problem. This type of learning

encourages students to think critically and apply the material in real-life situations.

One example of project-based learning is a science fair, where students research a scientific concept, design and conduct experiments, and present their findings to a panel of judges. This type of project not only helps students understand the scientific concept, but also develops their critical thinking and problem- solving skills.

  1. Role – Playing and Simulation

Role-playing and simulation is a type of interactive learning that allows students to experience real-life situations in a safe and controlled environment. In role-playing and simulation, students take on different roles, such as a business owner or a political leader, and participate in simulations or activities that simulate real-life situations.
